52 had given DC its first major success with the weekly format, but with the publication of "Wednesday Comics" DC took the concept to new creative heights. Named after the day that new comics arrive in the U.S. comic shops, "Wednesday Comics" was a broadsheet anthology created to be reminiscent of the comic section in Sunday Newspapers. It also brought together some of the medium's top creators.
The new format proved a massive success with the first few issues quickly selling out and the Superman story being reprinted in USA Today. The series ended after 12 issues.
This title is DC Comics experimenting with the typical Sunday comics format found in newspapers. The issues are printed on newspaper and folded twice. Each story is written on a single page per issue, continuing the next week.
