Seven years after the famous quadrilogy "The Third Testament", Alice and Dorison return to the genesis of this story by centering this new series on the character mentioned in the first trilogy under the name of Julius of Samaria and whose travel diaries are at the origin of the plot. The first volume of this second cycle, halfway between Quo Vadis and Ben-Hur, takes place during the rise of Christianity in the Roman world and the first persecutions

The Third Testament - Julius I (F) (2010)
by Xavier Dorison , Alex Alice, Robin Right
The Third Testament had revolutionized historical comics by associating, for the first time, a great adventure and an esoteric quest. Seven years later, screenwriters Alex Alice and Xavier Dorison go back to the sources of legend, in the footsteps of their forgotten prophet: Julius of Samaria.
This man would have received the word of God, and would have hidden it from the eyes of men. This is what obscure medieval legends tell… The reality is even more fantastic. We are thirty years after the death of Christ. Julius is still called Julius Publius Vindex. He is general, legate of Rome, persecutor of Jews and Christians.
How will this man, who is called "the Butcher of Alexandria", become the prophet of legend? As Judea prepares to rise up against Rome in a war that will change the world forever, what will be Julius' role in the advent of the messiah that the scriptures foretold since the beginning of time? Served by the epic and generous drawing by Robin Recht (Totendom), colored by François Lapierre (The Quest for the Bird of Time), this fresco has the taste of the best peplums and the dimension of the greatest fantastic tales.

The Third Testament - Julius II - The Revelation - Chapter 1 of 2 (2012)
While the Roman occupier puts Judea to death, the one who is now called the Prince of Princes, the Messiah, leaves for the East. It follows the mystical call of the Third Testament, the key to the Kingdom of God and the promise of the end of all suffering.
At his side, former General Julius has a more concrete vision: he wants to make this “messiah” a warlord capable of liberating his country. He thus imposes himself in the small group which leaves towards the East, determined to bring his friend to his senses... and to his daughter.
The trials multiply, the desert wind carries the rumor of a cavalcade and the cries of crows; and while mysterious shadows stretch over the walls of Babylon, Julius is unaware that the quest for the Third Testament will take him further than he can.
Alex Alice, Xavier Dorison and Thimothée Montaigne in the drawing go back to the sources of the saga that revolutionized comics, with this epic part worthy of the best epics.
