Gabe Kullens is a retired running back who's striving to have success in a second career overseeing the building of Technopolis, a huge resort and theme park. He wakes up the morning after a fight with his wife to find the entire city of Chicago empty of people. As he wanders around trying to make sense of what's going on he encounters a number of disturbing situations which lead him to believe that aliens have invaded and he's the last man on Earth.
